{July 3, 2015}   The things you overhear

Sometimes, it’s just hard not to listen.

We’ve all been in this situation…you’re out somewhere in public and people are talking loud enough for you to hear and you start listening, you just can’t help it. If they wanted their conversation to be truly private, they should whisper or have it somewhere else!

Sometimes it’s a fun conversation, sometimes…not so much. This morning, PSM and I were having breakfast and there was some turmoil going on in the kitchen, big open window into the kitchen, someone was having a bad day! At lunch, the women at the table next to us started talking about needing mani’s and Pedi’s and the pros and cons of gel polish, I could have given them my two cents!

Tonight, we were having dinner at a pub and there were very few people there with us. Two tables back were a pair of guys having a drink and talking. First, it was about the Marvel Universe, how it’s changing and how it needs to, then Stan Lee, then the merits of X-Men, finishing up with building a bar in the basement and friends would come over. I’m sure they would!

I love people watching, I know people are doing it to me and I’m ok with that!

What did you happen to hear tonight?

{June 29, 2015}   Furry love

I absolutely love having my cats with me.

Even though I saw the cats on the weekends when I was on the road, I really missed having them with me. So, when the opportunity to have them with me full time while I am on this project, I took it!

I don’t know what I’ll do when this project is up and I have to move on to the next project/location, maybe I’ll be able to find a pet friendly hotel and have them with me. I could rent a car and drive to the location, I don’t think they would fly very well, unless I could knock them out, who knows, never tried.

Even though Peanut is having some issues right now, I love having them with me. I come back to the room every night and they greet me, of course they want food or treats, but I’ll take it. What I really love is when I sit on the sofa, they are right there next to me, one on each side and then when I get in bed, here they come, either sitting on me or just to my side.

What could be better than warm, soft, purring, cuddles? Not much!

{June 27, 2015}   Take a…

break…take a moment…take your time…

All these things feature the words “Take a…” did you ever wonder, we are taking these things, and I know it’s just an expression, but what are we taking, where are we taking them?

But the big question is, we are taking these things, but are we giving anything back?

Nothing more philosophical tonight…Take some time to ponder your answer!

Just a little frustrating…

This has happened on more than one occasion and I’ve had enough and want to say something and then I hope I’m done, so here’s my rant.

I order the same drink from the big named coffee place, you fill in the blank. I don’t order very many things, so I tend to stick to the same ones for a long time. Since this place now offers coconut milk, and I am excited about it, I have one drink that I order.

It’s the largest one they have, coconut milk, “hot or cold?” excuse me? “hot or cold” well, if you would let me finish my order you would know what I want, extra hot. Then I ask for the decaf chai, we don’t have that, yes you do have decaf, it’s in the tea bags, “that’s a latte” fine, decaf chai latte, which I have gotten with coffee before, no thank you! no water, no foam, extra hot, by the time they get the ingredients, I have to yell out “no water!” and they have to start over since they poured water into the cup.

Please let me finish ordering before you ask questions, I am sure I will answer all your questions by the time I am through.

Rant over, thank you!

{June 24, 2015}   A new laptop…please!!!

My laptop is H O T!!!

Last week I went into the Boston office because my laptop wasn’t recognizing the charger I had attached and it was burning up!

I know laptops get warm, but wow! My laptop is on fire! If I get cold, I sit it on my lap!

Forget the fact that it’s older and heavy as a brick! But one of the frustrating things is the CD drive, I accidentally hit or brush the button and the drive opens, frustrating, yes!

But…August, I get my new laptop! I already ordered it through the company and I cannot wait! A touch screen that will be nice and light! I cannot wait!

We’ve all fallen victim to auto correct once or twice, right?

Ok, come on, be honest, it’s like hundreds of times, right? Have you ever looked at what the phone auto corrected with and felt like sinking into the floor? Sometimes it picks words as a suggestion that have nothing to do with what you are typing or thinking. Does your phone stick words in the middle of your sentence without you realizing it sometimes? The worst part is when you don’t catch it and hit send! Then you try to fix it and it makes it worse? Ugh!

Now, there are all sorts of sites dedicated to this lovely situation and I often wonder…could these actually be real? Some people say no, but after going through it myself, I have to wonder. Although, with some, I might have to agree, they seem too extreme to be a simple mistake. I do love the ones between kids and their parents.

Now, one of the websites I like is “Damn you autocorrect!” I’m not going to post the link because sometimes the first one that shows may not something I want to be to be associated with, so I will just let you go there if you so choose.

The thing I love is that when I click on one, I start laughing at some of them, sometimes so hard I’m crying. What I don’t love is getting sucked in and an hour later, I’m still looking at these crazy things!

Enjoy! [I was trying to think of something funny to pretend to auto-correct, but it’s just not working, so enjoy!]

{June 6, 2015}   Driving a hybrid

This weekend I am driving a Toyota Prius.

I’ve driven hybrids before but this one was different. Is very quiet, sometimes you don’t realize if the car is on.  You start the car by putting your foot on the break and pushing the button,  again,  so quiet, you don’t know of its on,  you have to look at the dash to see if it says “Ready”, then use the shifter to put it in gear.

The dash is cool,  you can change the display to show you what the output is,  an internal view of what’s going on,  there are hand controls on the steering wheel that when you touch them,  to control the temperature or radio,  show on the dash.

You can control the a/c from 30 feet away, I need to try that!  Check out their page,  it’s interesting all the things involved with the creating and running of the car.

The car has been fun to drive,  roomy,  good pickup, quiet,  a little dangerous because the pick up is so good and it’s quiet, you get up there in speed without realizing it, dangerous for me, for those of you who you know me!

The gas mileage is terrific,  good sound system,  good cargo space,  passenger space. All around a good car.

It’s great for the environment, and I’m not saying I want a Prius, but if VW came out with a hybrid beetle bug,  I’d be the first one in line to test drive it!

{June 4, 2015}   What makes you smile?

Everyone smiles for different reasons.

Sometimes it’s something silly, a joke, a picture, a puppy, a kitten, a fuzzy animal, a blue sky, the sun after a rainy, cloudy, cold day. It’s the first moment you see the sand and smell the ocean.

It’s the first time you see your new child, grandchild, friend’s child, grandparent, your parents after a long time away from home, your baby sister, your big brother.

For my friend MM, it’s his tarantulas and his rifle collection, for SDL, it’s watching Miss A excel at something new or a snuggle, for CKM, it’s time with her mom, for KWH it’s baby J. I have so many friends with so many joys and reasons to smile. For  my sister, it’s her family, for my dad, it’s all of us, for LaLa, it’s her grandkids, for TS, it’s her daughter, for PSM, it’s his puppy and his motorcycle and, if I may be so bold, me.

For me, there are so many things that make me smile, the list is too grand to mention! But if asked, it’s my sister and her family, dad, LaLa, my furry babies and all of my nieces and nephews, both related through family and “borrowed’, my grandbabies, oh so much more. There is one other special thing. Tonight, someone saw my face after PSM left the hotel after we had dinner and she said “He makes you smile”. Now you know…

Everyone smiles for different reasons. What’s yours?

dont-forget-to-smile

Caitlyn Jenner, The Kardashians, Josh Dugger, Justin Bieber, the list goes on…

There are so many stories in the tabloids that occupy so much of our focus as a society that so many things get lost, so many issues that are more important. They are more important, aren’t they?

Is what’s important like beauty, in the eye of the beholder, or is it just like we think, more important. Is a Kardashian doing something outrageous really more important that the tragedy in Nepal? You wouldn’t think so, but that’s how we seem to treat things as a society.

Is it like one person’s trash is another person’s treasure? What’s important to you may not be important to the next person, but as I sit here thinking about it, I do believe that statement, but I also believe we should have more compassion for others and understanding of what’s going on in the world.

If we knew more about things going on outside our line of vision, we might have more compassion for those around us and maybe even far reaching. And on the other side…if we didn’t give these celebrities the attention, accolades and ultimately money, would they stay in the spotlight? Would our attention go to more pressing issues and matters?

But where one celebrity walks out the door, another walks in. And with so many things going on in the world, heartbreak, heartache, tragedy, not all the time mind you, but it’s out there, these celebrities, reality show stars, etc give us other things to focus on.

So, what’s the answer?

{May 27, 2015}   Hope…Hold On, Pain Ends

Is that not THE best saying? HOPE…Hold On, Pain Ends! I love it!

This is what I am sending to my friends, hope.

I told you I have a friend who got some news that they shared with me yesterday. Well, today I got to talk to them and hear their voice and once I did that, I let out my breath. When I finally talked to this friend tonight, I felt better.

Please don’t misunderstand, I do not have any misconceptions that this is about me at all, and it shouldn’t be, but I am sharing my feelings with you, my friends. Don’t you have that feeling when you hear about a friend or loved one, sometimes one in the same, and until you see them in person or hear their voice, you can’t concentrate, can’t breathe? I felt that way with my sister and when I learn a friend is going through something and today, I took a breath.

When I got to talk to my friend, we talked about what’s going on and what did they need from me. Support…you got it! You know you have it, whatever you need! We will beat this thing together! [No, we are not Bob the Builder!]

Now, I am sending HOPE and love and good vibes and love and hope and whatever else I can to another friend to for what they are about to go through tomorrow. This is something that they need and amazingly enough there is a family member who is able to give them what they need.

I know it’s frustrating that you don’t know what or who I’m talking about, but I think it’s important to keep their private lives private, that they tell their own stories.

I’ve known about this friend and what they are going through for a while and I value the updates I get and when I get to hear their voice, I hear hope and encouragement and faith and that is amazing. This friend will beat it and I look forward to seeing them soon so I can give them a hug and let out a breath, know what I mean?

So, to my two very special friends, I send you love, hugs, encouragement, support and H O P E!
