{January 13, 2017}   Catnaps are evil!

Not really, I am actually a big fan of catnaps.

Here’s the problem…for me. I am tired and I catnap for a few minutes during the day,  it’s great, gives me a boost.

At night, if I’m tired, sometimes I’ll fall asleep for a few minutes, maybe 10 or twenty, then I’m awake…curses cat nap!

I hope you weren’t looking for greatness in this post!

Night night

{January 11, 2017}   The passwords are clean!

Success!

I use an app to store my passwords and credit cards, I’m sure like a lot of you. The one I use is Dashlane and I really like it. If I use the Dashlane browser, it will populate the information with a touch of an icon, very simple. The other thing it will do is create a password for me or tell me if the one I’m using is safe or ice used the same one too many times.

Well, I have access to a lot of different sites, some I use all the time and some here and there. Regardless, it stores every password.

I’ve been meaning to clean it up for a long time, there are multiples in there, I have 3 different yahoo email addresses, things like that and I need to keep them straight. There were sites in there I haven’t used in years, like dating sites, don’t need those anymore, job search sites, nope. You get the idea.

I’ve been going in there here and there to clean it up and tonight I was updating something and said ‘enough is enough’ and I cleaned up the list. I attempted to log into every site, tested passwords, deleted sites, updated site names and web addresses, cleaned it up. I still have way too many logins,  but at least it’s all valid.

Wahoo! Success!

Happy birthday to my b-i-l, ACS!

{January 7, 2017}   It’s a winter wonderland

It’s snowing!

When I arrived on Thursday night/Friday morning, it was snowing. When I got to my dad’s, at least 3 or 4 inches on the cars. You might remember this was about 3am. When we woke up a few hours later, no snow…

This morning when we got up, that was a different story. It was snowing and didn’t look like it was going to let up anytime soon. They said to expect 1-3 inches. Well…by 2pn, it was still going and going and going. Let’s just say, our plans to  venture out quickly became a day to stay in, male popcorn, order take-out and binge watch Netflix.

Turned out to be the perfect day, spending time with family, good food and relaxing.

Here are some pics for my friends who are missing the snow. Enjoy!

{January 6, 2017}   Happy Blogiversary!

I cannot believe it! It’s been 4 years that we’ve been talking every day!

I started the blog years ago, but January 6, 2012 I decided I was going to post to my blog every day and baring a few missed nights due to technology or being waaaay too tired, that’s what I’ve done!

It’s been an amazing experience. I have friends and family, who I knew, who read my posts, I have friends that I don’t know, who read my posts.  There are people subscribed and people who catch it on Facebook or Twitter. According to the site stats I have 1031 followers! What?

There are days I have no idea what to talk about, you can probably guess that, but there are days you probably think that and I had those planned out!

I love hearing from friends who tell me that they love reading my posts every day, it’s like I’m sitting across from them and their know what I’m doing, it feels like we talk all the time. And they had my voice in their heads,  do you know how much I love hearing that! One of my friends from high school commented the other day “I love your posts, they make me happy! When I grow up I want to be just like you! ” How tickled was I?!

You make this worthwhile. I enjoy doing it, I like telling you where I’ve been, what I’m doing, going through, highs, lows, silliness, kvelling [that’s a nice Yiddish word meaning to be happy and proud]  about my friends and family,  especially the wee tots in it. This may have started out as free therapy,  it’s turned into so much more.

So, we’ve been together consistently for four years, are you ready for the next four? I am and I hope you’ll join me. Happy anniversary my friends and family, it’s been a great ride, can’t wait to see what’s coming next!

I was going to have this as a post on Facebook, it was about 6am this morning, but I just kept going,  so here’s my post.

I am not a fan of complaining first thing in the morning…my two flights so far have been great.  I haven’t eaten since yesterday morning at about 530pm and it was a snack box I purchased from the airline. I have had a drink and one of those fine free snack bags on each flight, I’m not starving, but I’m hungry.

I am in Houston and stopped to get a sandwich, something close to my gate.  The lines at the breakfast places were really long, so I went to a kiosk that had sandwiches.  I picked up an egg salad sandwich, thought it was safe, I didn’t know I needed to read the entire label…

By my second bite…a slight kick, hmmm…then I look and there seems to be some meat in the sandwich. This is the point when I decide to read the label…

A southwest egg salad sandwich means jalapeño flakes in the bread and the sandwich AND… those pieces of meat…bacon. How happy is this ovo-vegan?

On me…I should have read the label, but to be fair, it was 6am, I’ve been flying a while and all the other sandwiches state what type of sandwich it is “ham and cheese”, “chicken and…”

Why couldn’t the label on the front and not just the teeny ingredients list on the back say “egg salad with bacon”, I could have dealt with the jalapeño, but the bacon, not a chance!

Bottom line…not cool.

I really need to hit the lottery…
I’m looking forward to going back and seeing my friends and coworkers, not sure about the whole work thing,  ha ha…who is,  really?

This week was great, being home with PSM, even though we both got sick, it was still nice.

Last night, I pulled all my clothes out of the closet and drawers and this morning packed. PSM felt bad about yesterday, not doing anything, so he forced me to go to the beach, harsh, I know! I took Mollie and we headed to a beach about 15 minutes from us, a nice local beach.

There were about 5 people on the beach when we got there and progressively got more populated, but not crowded, it was nice. Mollie was exploring, making friends then hanging out with me, even got in the water with me, then got a little restless. It was ok when it was mostly adults, they all liked her, but when babies started arriving, I had trouble

keeping her near me,  nothing to tie her leash to. That was our cue to head home. It was a nice few hours that we had.

Home, shower, dozed off for a bit, ooh, mid afternoon naps are definitely underrated! Then it was time to pack my carryon, ensure I had everything and then head to the airport.

About a mile into the trip,  what’s my phone?  Back to the house, luckily we were only about 8 minutes from home. Off to the airport for my next adventure. Honolulu to LA to Houston to Chicago, fun, huh?

It really was great and if I could hit the lottery and be there all the time, with the money to travel when I/we wanted, I think I could handle that.

Who knows what’s coming next?!

{January 2, 2017}   Man’s best friend

It’s so true. At least in this case it truly is.

My cats used to stay by my side when I was sick, I think Jymy was worried, Peanut just wanted attention, ha ha, Gabby stuck to me like glue, it felt good when they did.

As you know, PSM isn’t feeling well and today, since we didn’t have plans and stopped moving, so to speak, finally gave in and decided to rest today.

Well, with resting came a companion, Miss Mollie McDougal never left his side, expect to come downstairs for food and to go out. He was outside on the lanai, there she was, upstairs in bed, Mollie, on the sofa…you guessed it.

She was a good companion, worried about her person.

{December 7, 2016}   You know you’re dreaming but…

You can’t wake up. You want to wake up, but you can’t wake up. It’s a vicious cycle.

Sometimes your dreams are good and sometimes not so good. Either way, you’re in the dream and you know it’s a dream and you think, I really should wake myself up, but I don’t know how.

I’m being chased by dragons, should I wake up? Yes, they’re trying to eat me, but come on, it’s dragons!

I really need to get up and go to work, but I’m happy right here in this bed, wait, I’m sleeping, how do I know this?

Ever try to go back to sleep to try to finish your dream? I need to save all the puppies, wait! I can’t get back there, somebody help me!

That realm between asleep and awake, it’s a doozy. That could be why they make so many movies about it, don’t need to watch, apparently I’m living it!

I thought it was just me!

{December 2, 2016}   Teen love

Did you fall in love as a teenager? Wasn’t that the best!

You felt like you were flying, invincible, like no one had ever felt that way before. Especially the first time. But, of course, if you’re a typical teenager, it happens more than once…and it’s forever…every time!

I’m not saying that can’t and doesn’t happen as we get older, but you never really have that wide-eyed innocence of falling and being in love, do you?

Oh, is heartbreak any different, depending on our age? I think so, but that first one, the world was going to end and you thought ‘I’ll never fall in love’ there’s nothing more for me, but ah, youth, wait five minutes…’Bobby who?’

Sigh…to be a teenager in love…they wrote songs about it, you know…

{November 29, 2016}   Wait! That is not a pocket!

I love my winter coat, sadly it might be time for a new one.

It’s a long, well, knee-length for me, off-white and quilted. I got it from Eddie Bauer two winters ago after seeing The Nutcracker with the family.

It’s been a great coat for the winters in Boston, Buffalo and now Chicago, not to mention on our trip this month in Iceland, Denmark and Sweden! It’s warm, comfy-cozy and since it’s a down coat, I can use it almost like a blanket.

Sometime in the last year it developed a few small holes at the bottom, it looks like it sat against something hot and burned the holes in it. Now there are feathers coming out of it! When I sit down, feathers come flying out! I leave them everywhere!

Today, DLP and I went for a much needed mani-pedi, when I put my coat on and put my hand in my pocket, looking for something, I realized I was putting my hand through a hole in the seem of my coat, just below the pocket, what?

My exact words were “That’s not a pocket!”

Yeah, that’s about it, not a page turner of a post, just wondering where my new’pocket’ came from! Let’s go shopping?

I know it’s not white, the colors make me happy.
