It’s that time of year isn’t it, or more precise, it was. The holidays were just here and the next one is on the horizon.

The holidays illicit different feelings and reactions in different people. One of the things that happen is people get more emotional, as it were. Some people get depressed, some people get happy, others get loopy, couples get more starry eyed, some even get engaged. Some singles gravitate towards each other, some like to be alone, maybe even hibernate.

Then there are the single people who look for love, some get anxious that they will be alone at the holidays. This is not a judgment, just an observation from what I found when I was single during the holidays and articles that I have read.

How about all of those holiday movies, girl looks for boy to take home to the family for the holidays, boy hires girl to be his girlfriend so he doesn’t have to spend the holidays with family as a single and answer questions. Have you noticed the Hallmark Channel during the holidays?

One thing that struck me was that when I was online dating, some times it was feast or famine, one of the feast times…right around Christmas and again Valentine’s Day is around the corner, I know, the stores are already set up!

I would get an onslaught, is that the right word? of emails from guys interested in meeting me. Whether they were serious or not, in they came. What made me think of it was looking at one of my email inboxes today.

As you know I am in a relationship with this dishy boy, PSM, as you know him, so I technically haven’t been single for almost a year. Can you believe it, almost a year!

Back on track, sorry, just daydreaming a bit.

So, going into my email inbox and there were a lot of emails from the last dating site I was on, Plenty of Fish, or Puddle of Fish, I liked to call it, I think I’ve told you about it. Apparently, I forgot to cancel my account, when I think about going in and canceling, I get PSM disease…shiny baubles, then I’m off doing something else.

There were a lot right around Christmas, so-and-so wants to meet you, so-and-so sent you a wink. Let me tell you, there are a lot of lonely so-and-sos out there! Not so many around Arbor Day or St Patrick’s, I wonder why…

I wish them a lot of luck, I’m very pleased to say I’m not one of them and don’t have plans to join their club any time soon.

Do you find it easier to get stuff done when you have the time or when you don’t?

I find that I budget my time better when I have things to do,  like when I’m on a project and only have the weekend to take care of it.

Right now,  I’m between projects and have things to do, but I can’t seem to get motivated to do half of them. Part of it was that my trip to Atlanta seemed to wipe me out,  when I got back, it all caught up with me.

What’s my excuse now?

{January 3, 2016}   The Hateful 8

Um…

Hmm…

What to say…I like Quentin Tarantino and I have liked quite a few of his eight films.  Can you believe it’s only been eight?

There are things I like about Tarantino movies
and things I don’t, it elicits a reaction, isn’t that what it’s supposed to do?

There was gunplay, blood, lots of blood,  bad language, really bad language, humor, surprise,  jaw dropping moments, quizzical moments, big names and some of the usual players from many of his movies.

There was even a resolution, but do I feel satisfied, pleased with the outcome?

Um…

I’ll let you decide.

{December 31, 2015}   Happy New Year…Its 2016

It’s 2016, where did the time go?

Weren’t we just here a minute ago? How was your year? Was it everything you hoped for?

So much happened in my life…GES turned 40, she’s 100% and rockin’ her new job, EJS turned 8 and excelling at sports, MGS turned 5, lost her first tooth and started kindergarten, ACS left his corporate job to become a teacher. Dad and LaLa celebrated ten years together. We traveled to the Bahamas together for a fabulous family vacation in April.

I met a great guy, PSM,  and a new adventure began for me, East coat skiing, weekend trips,  movies,  theater,  a place in Boston, new places to discover, three international trips together and now the greatest adventure, moving to Hawaii in a few months! I can’t wait to share that with you!

I was on a project in Boston and got to spend a lot more time with the family,  getting even closer with EJS and MGS, I didn’t have to go more than a few miles to celebrate their birthdays with them.

On my projects and where I was I made some new friends,  acquired new skills and discovered new strengths.

I got to spend some time in Atlanta with my friends and family, watched Miss A thrive,  spent one on one time with Baby A and KAB. Drove to NJ to see SRH walk across the stage to get her diploma.

I completed a 15k, a few 5ks and two half marathons 8 days apart on two continents! One in Brooklyn with a friend from high school.

Another year of blogging, only to be continued, January 6th will be 3 years,  can you believe it!

There were some tough times, some great times, some injuries and triumphs and I got through all of them with the help of my friends and family,  I thank you.

I hope this year brings you health, happiness and all the joy your heart can handle. 2016 is going to be great!

Happy New Year!

{December 23, 2015}   A new experience

Today,  I got a ride through the airport…in a wheelchair!

As I am recouping, I am not allowed to lift anything more than seven pounds for about four weeks, doing well, just moving a little slower.

That being said,  I decided to make my life a little easier today at the airport and I requested a wheelchair. I have to say,  it was different, being taken where I needed to go,  at a different level and weaving in and out between people “look out!” “Coming thru!”

It did alleviate some of the pressure of navigating the airports, having to carry or wheel things here and there, so much easier!

If you’re like me,  asking for help is not easy,  but people want to help, so ask!!

A new experience, what’s the next adventure?

{December 21, 2015}   Pouring gasoline

Are you graceful when you pour gasoline?

Why is it that when I pour gasoline, usually into a small gas can, or sometimes even filling the gas tank on a car, I will inadvertently get gasoline on my hand or clothing? It happens, maybe the connection wasn’t solid or when I pulled the hose out there is a little spatter. Does this every happen to you?

But…why is it that when I watch people in movies and on tv pouring gasoline, sometimes to start a fire, maybe an angry spouse piled all the stuff on the front lawn and lit it on fire, as it happens in the movies all the time. Why is it that they can pour gasoline until their hearts are content, light it on fire and never once spill a drop on themselves?

I was inspired today as I was watching something on tv and an angry wife, this time, piled all the husband’s stuff on the front lawn, poured gasoline on the pile and lit it on fire. No spillage or dripping or catching themselves on fire.

Hmmm. Yeah, that’s about it.

{December 20, 2015}   Jessica Jones..like? Don’t like?

Needing new things to watch,  we decided to give Jessica Jones a go.

This is a new Netflix original series because,  let’s face it,  they need more, right?

Jessica Jones is based on the Marvel comic book series. This wasn’t a series that I read as a kid and I read a few.

Jessica Jones is about a former super hero who is reinventing herself as a private investigator. She is dark, troubled, provocative and definitely moderately off her rocker.

She has friends or had,  she turns everyone away who cares about her.  Tragic, but all the makings of a good series, right?

We started watching,  got three episodes in and we’re still not sure if we like it. There are only 13 in total, so what could it hurt?

{December 19, 2015}   Recuperating …what do you watch?

When your recuperating what do you watch?

I don’t know about everyone,  but aren’t you supposed to watch bad movies,  maybe some cheesey love story or bad holiday romance.

Here is am, lying on the sofa, recuperating and what am I watching? Crime dramas, huh? Midsomer Murders and Criminal Minds.

Is this mindless? I ask you! No,  it’s not.  Do I enjoy it? Why yes,  yes I do!

What do you watch?

{December 16, 2015}   Today, I had a P.P.O.E.

That sounds so official or ominous. So many acronyms in the world today, right?

It stands for a positive post office experience! How often can you say that?

I have packages to mail, as you can imagine,  some are going to places I am not and some are going to where I am going to be for Christmas and I won’t be able to carry them,  so ship them off.

There is a UPS office pretty close,  so I took a chance.  It was about 800 degrees in there and the girl helping me was moderately helpful, she had a lot of trouble reading my writing, the word yellow…”yellaw?” Really? Ok,  never mind that.

What irritated me was the cost! The first box,  $39.50 and it had to go 3 day, if I went ground,  no guarantee it would get anywhere by the 23rd. After two boxes of this, and an envelope, thin and light,  $9, really?

So,  boxes back in the car,  off to the post office.

I wrangled my large bag and three large boxes the few blocks,  after finding parking,  someone held the door open,  first good thing.  Then I waited, and waited, and waited, the boxes got heavier and heavier. A girl asked if she could help,  I asked her to pick up my sunglasses that had fallen, second nice thing.

It wad finally my turn and the woman behind the counter was pleasant and helpful. And my first package… $15.14 vs UPS’ $39, sold! And the $9 envelope? $3.14…hmmm.

Overall,  a pleasant experience,  everything should get where it needs to be,  on time,  I paid the extra .17 for one box, by golly!

I made two of the women behind the counter laugh a few times,  always a good thing.  Got out of there for a heck of a lot less than it would have been at UPS, go me!

I walked out with a smile on my face and a spring in my step.  Ha ha.

{December 14, 2015}   Geek alert!!!

Geeking out tonight!!

I finally got my Samsung Gear S2 watch tonight!

Anyone who knows me knows I LA LA LA LOVE my smartwatch. I have had it for about four years, I’m on my second, the first I dropped on a driveway after about 3 years,  so sad, so I had to get another.

The technology is great, it’s just slowing down a bit,  I’m sorry to say,  part of the reason I had a fitbit as well. And if you know me,  you know I want the latest and greatest. I got a Samsung Galaxy Note 5, then I see the watch…ooh…

I researched and since they’re both Samsung,  they connect.  The other watch, Motorola, was great when I had a Motorola phone, connected easily.

This thing is magical! Apps, phone, fitness tracker,  emails,  music, video, you name it! It even comes with a charging stand!!! And yes, I already downloaded some apps including the winter watch face!

I’m in geek heaven! Sigh.
