{February 17, 2017}   Apparently I’m famous!

Well, in my little world I am!

When I teach a software class, I like to make it fun, informative and memorable. Apparently, I’m doing my job.

One of the things I like to do is get people on their feet about 2pm. Lunch was over a while ago, people are getting antsy and we’ve been in this room together since 9am. I get them on their feet and we sing nursery rhymes! The Itsy Bitsy Spider, The Wheels On The Bus, I’m a Little Teapot, the list goes on. Yesterday, we sang Take Me Out to The Ballgame.

Here’s where I’m famous…when I got to this training site, I saw some people from past classes and we caught up, then they asked what we were going to sing!

Keep in mind…I haven’t been here since last summer!

The two people at the front desk, who were never in one of my classes, asked what we were going to sing and gave me suggestions!

When I walked in this morning, there we four people standing in an office, one asks what are we going to sing today, the others talk about what they sang in their class and all of a sudden one breaks into the Itsy Bitsy Spider!

If nothing else, people have a good memory from being in my class and what more could I ask for?!

{February 10, 2017}   I’m in a living snow globe

Isn’t that crazy?!

I landed in Boston tonight and as we were waiting for the jet way to reach the plane, the snow started to build on the window.

I thought it looked like a slow globe! Please don’t shake the plane to make it blizzard! Ha ha

{February 4, 2017}   A house divided

Falcons vs Patriots. The showdown is coming.

I’m from NYC originally and a NY Giants fan. I’m in a relationship with a man from New England who is a die hard NE Patriots fan. It’s a “mixed marriage” for sure. [NY Yankees/Boston Red Sox]. Living in Colorado I grew an affection for the Denver Broncos, still on opposite sides. And here we are at the Superbowl! Remember where I lived for 20 years?

Now…I don’t know if you remember, I’m not a football fan, but I enjoy when someone takes me to a game in person. The sites, smells, food, excitement, the energy, it’s so much more. I still don’t always know what’s going on, but I don’t care, I love the current in the air.

Here we come to Superbowl Sunday, which is tomorrow. And it’s a good thing I’m not at home this weekend, it might have been tough…PSM is rooting for The Pats and I’m rooting for the Falcons.  I’ll be honest, I lived in Georgia for twenty years and didn’t get that into the Falcons, but I’m a feeling the need to ‘Rise Up’ with Atlanta. It’s been 51 years since they’ve been to the Superbowl and I’m feeling a very red and black swell off emotion. [Do you remember when I became a Cubs fan the week of the World Series?]

If the Falcons win, wahoo! I know I’ll hear the uproar from Georgia where I am and I’ll whoop and holler. If the Pats win,  I’ll call PSM and congratulate him and show my “Patriot-ism” [I said that to him a few months ago and couldn’t stop laughing! Isn’t that fabulous!]

Good luck to both teams, I know what is going to be like in PSM’s house, my house and all our friends in New England and I love all of them and I hope that they will understand when I say “Rise Up Atlanta!  Go Falcons!]”

{February 3, 2017}   Did I actually day that?

Sometimes you think about it after you say it and think “huh…did I really just say that!?”

I’ve done that a few times in my life, I know we all have and I’ve probably told you one or two of them. This wasn’t that bad, just not sure it was completely appropriate.

I was teaching a class yesterday and we needed a name, we make them up for one of the lessons and someone decided to select Willie Nelson. That led to a few comments about weed. Uh oh…here I am teaching a class and they are talking about weed. But…it helped to put things into perspective and it made the class laugh and understand what we were trying to do,  so that worked out.

You never know where inspiration is going to come from our what will make the light bulb go off over someone’s head…do what you can!

{February 2, 2017}   Well, ain’t that fancy!

Quote-unquote.

This is what I heard one of the women say when they got in the elevator with me at my hotel.

This hotel has the elevator that you punch the number on the pad and it tells you which elevator car to use, no numbers inside. There is a display in the elevator indicating the floors requested.

When the women got in the car they thought the display was for the floors that car serviced. I told them it was for the floors we were going to and one of them said “We’ll ain’t that fancy!”

Well ladies, I guess it is!

Made me giggle.

{January 27, 2017}   Where am I? When am I?

So…you know I travel a little right?

That being said, I talk to people in different time zones and I’m in airports in different time zones all the time. People ask where I am, can’t always tell them. My dad gave me a watch made of paper for Chanukah and I set it to Hawaii time so I always know what time it is at home and when I can call PSM. Doesn’t help in airports, so…

I decided to get clever…my fabulous watch has many options on watch faces and one has multiple time zones, so I selected that one and chose New York, good for eastern standard time,  where dad is and GES in Boston,  then Honolulu, where my home and honey are,  Paris, well, if you know me, you know I love Paris and ‘my location’, so I’ll always know what time it is where I am.

I thought it was a good idea. It’s 11:57 pm here in Honolulu where I just landed so I will say goodnight.  Good morning to some of you as it will be 5am in a few on the east coast.

I have told you, I’m spoiled. Hilton treats me right, let me show you.

I’ve been in all sorts of rooms all over the world, in all sorts of hotels, and I’ve shared what Hilton has done with upgrades. A few years ago I got upgraded to the presidential suite and this week, the governor’s suite! I could live here!

I’ve been trying to upload a video, but it’s not happening, I hope the photos do it justice! [I’m going to post the video on Facebook, if we’re friends there, you’ll see it,  sorry non-Facebook peeps].

All I did was make a reservation, the rest was up to Hilton.

It happened once, I was annoyed, it happened again, now I’m saying something.

I know, you might be thinking, it only happened twice, what’s your problem? My problem is that I wasn’t posting to open up a political onslaught or insight, people bashing or name calling. I was posting because I thought something was cool.

The first time was when I was in Hawaii last month and after a hike we saw President Obama’s cavalcade, I shared that with you. I posted it because I thought it was cool, I don’t know the last time I’ve been that close to a president and they stopped everyone coming in and out of the park until they went by.

What happened when I posted it was a slew of nastiness thrown around. It wasn’t as if I was posting it to invite conversation more than maybe “Oh wow” or “cool”, people found this the proper forum to tell others what they thought about the president, his stance on things and a few others.  Ok, maybe not a slew, but it was enough.

The next thing that happened was I liked a meme someone posted on their own wall, I thought the caption was funny. I only clicked the like button, I didn’t comment, didn’t say boo…Someone saw that I liked it and proceeded to express their opinion on someone else’s wall. And when the poster responded it went back and forth. It started to get ugly and it bothered me.

I get that everyone has opinions, I have my own and if I wanted to start a dialog or political conversation, I would have opened it up that way. And there will be times I do in the future, you will know it. And when I do, comment away, I want to know how  you feel, I want your opinion.

This felt more like people felt the need to use someone else’s page for their issues and lambast others. There will be more posts out there for you to comment on. You have a page, use it.

Rant over.

{January 18, 2017}   Not what I expected to see

Especially in the restroom.

Let me preface by saying, when you gotta go, you gotta go. If you know me, I ain’t ‘skered’, I’ve gone in the men’s room at concerts or if there is a single room and I just gotta.

In an office,  there’s either one room or a multi-stall space. Today, I walked into the office restroom and saw a pair of feet in a stall, that wasn’t the odd thing. The odd thing was the feet were backwards, as in facing the bowl add to that…the entire time we were in there,  the feet never moved.

It’s like the person was talking to the back of the toilet…hmmm

So many emotions.

I can’t believe it’s been a year, but January 15, 2016 is when PSM got on a plane very early in the morning in Boston to move to Hawaii. This morning, 7am, he kissed me goodbye and headed to the airport to go home to Hawaii.

The nice thing this time, well for me, is that PSM took a taxi and I stayed in bed and went back to sleep,  ahhh…he’s home, safe and sound as we speak and I’ll see him in two weeks for our 2 year anniversary! I don’t know if you remember that I surprised him last year, it was perfect! This time, he knows I’m coming, but he’s got a surprise planned for me!

After I got up leisurely, had breakfast, hung out and then headed to the movie theater nearby to see the 65th anniversary of Singin’ in the Rain on the big screen. The theater was full, very few empty seats, even quite a few kids.

The opening  credits started to roll and it was on! I will easy, a little bittersweetto see Debbie Reynolds on the big screen after just losing her so soon from our lives. I just sat back, literally…in the recliner, and reveled in Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O’Conner, singing and dancing on the big screen.

I’ve watched this movie at least 50 times or more, but on a TV, there is nothing like seeing it in the theatre on a big screen.  That’s why I go as often as possible when they re-release a movie or a one time showing on the big screen, something that brings back my childhood or gives me a new experience.

It’s on the big screen today and Wednesday, January 18th across the country, go find a theater, at fandango.com, and  fun! Here’s the full list of what’s going to be on the big screen, presented by TCM, http://www.playbill.com
