{October 8, 2013}   Another stellar Girl Night Out!

Tonight we had another great GNO! It was quite creative!

We went to Mudslinger Pottery, http://www.mudslingerspottery.com/, in Louiseville, CO, about 10 minutes from us and a WAY cute town! Lots of shops, restaurants, pubs, actual tree lined streets, it was charming! I found out that Louiseville was named the number 2 safest city in the country! I can see why. http://www.louisvilleco.gov/

We started with a lecture that lasted about 40 minutes, we learned about the four S’ s [scoring, smoothing, something and something], then we learned about throwing clay, the wheel, sponging, making sure clay is centered. We would ‘leave’ with having potentially made 3 items [we left them there to be ‘bisqued” so we could come back and paint them – you know when you go to a paint your own pottery? Those are bisque so that you can paint them].  We will go back next month to paint.

We took our ball of clay and worked the clay into a cup of sorts, get the feel for sides [by putting your thumb through the center and working out], I made mine more into a petaled cup, I liked it. Then we worked on the wheel, I had serious issues for 2 balls of clay, bad when they go flying and the guard goes flying too! Third time’s the charm! I scored the bowl on the inside, way cool!

Then…i decided to make something on the tableetop, i cut out pieces, using the rolling pin, scoring, smoothing, and imprinted this cool flower stamp on the base and the back, I was inspired! I then put 9 holes in it, MG’s menorah!!! I can’t wait to paint it and give it to her! [For EJ, I made her a bunch of animals out of fimo] It’s going to be fun!

We had a great time, I had clay all over my face, we had Ghost moments, clay everywhere, good food and lots of laughs and some great pictures, you should join us next time! [not telling you what we’re doing, you’ll have to tune in]

{October 8, 2013}   Torn…

There are days that I am torn what to write about.

There are days I have not a clue what I’m going to talk about until the minute I sit down to write, sometimes not even then, it could take a while.

I know, you’re thinking, what? You (meaning me)…not know what to talk about? We didn’t think there was an off button! Well, sometimes you would be correct, not sure if this is one of those times!

There have been days I’ve had sooo much to say, I’ve written in chapters, there are others I will start multiple posts. I think there was only one time I took a post I and completed prior and posted it, it was what I wanted to say, just not that day.

And, I’m sure you can understand, there are days I just don’t want to talk. (Stop laughing!)

Today, I’m just conflicted. There are a few things I want to talk about, but I don’t think I’m up for it right now. I had an ok day up until 3:15pm MT (not sure if you felt the disturbance in the force), something crappy happened, then something fun, then I got to do something that always makes me happy and then I finished a project, that made me happy.

So here we are 11:30pm on a Monday night, just glad this day is over and tomorrow is a new day. So…I found something to talk about while not really saying anything…

and that takes skill!

Ok, so not all chocolate…if there’s peanut butter with the chocolate, I’m in!

I think I told you I signed up to do the Hot Chocolate 5k in Denver a few weeks ago. Friday and Saturday was the Expo for packet pickup and I decided that I would kill two bird with one stone [isn’t that an awful phrase? those poor birds] and Friday afternoon, I volunteered for the Hot Chocolate Expo race packet pickup.

Did you know it snowed on Friday? It started raining/snowing Thursday night and when I got up to go to therapy, it was snowing! About 12, it was done and melted! After therapy I went to the clinic for their first site visit and then it was off to the Hot Chocolate Expo.

Snowing on the way to the mountain Friday morning!

My new Chucks!

Chocolate socks!

Since it was a little chilly and started snowing a little sooner than I expected, I needed better footwear, at least for the afternoon, I really need some boots! I stopped at Ross and it must have been fate, couldn’t find any boots that fit or I liked, but I did find…a pair of chocolate colored! Chuck Taylor Converse All Stars! I love the laces, they are elastic [one pink and one blue in each sneaker] and…chocolate colored Converse socks! what are the odds and was it a sign? [did I need another pair of “Chucky Ts?” not really, but did i want them? most definitely!] [I believe one of my posts soon will be introducing you to my collection!] I put my new Chucks on and it was off to the Expo.

Race Sweatshirt [girls were grey and orange, guy were grey and grey]

I first picked up my packet and the packets for DCM, JS and CD, next, I checked in for my volunteering time, I had requested packet pickup, but I was put at the table to do size exchanges, the sweatshirts run a little small. [When I did the run in Atlanta in January, I got a medium, it was too small, so this time I got a large, but then at the expo tried on the XL and it was perfect!

I had a lot of fun volunteering, (made me want to it find other events to volunteer for) I talked to and laughed with a lot of people, talked about the run, had a little advice for the run and the chocolate [ie bring a plastic bag for their cups with the dipping chocolate]. Then it was home to chill after a very long day.

You already know about yesterday and last night, so on to today.

Brace and Halloween socks!

We got up at oh dark thirty [who organizes a 5k that starts at 7am?] and got into the car and headed into Denver. We found parking, about the same time CD called to tell me they were closing the corrals at 6:45, I didn’t think that was going to happen, but I ran to meet her with her race bag, yes I said ran. I got the lace-up brace that the doctor told me I should get, I’ve been wearing it for a few days [as you notice, it’s October, so it’s Halloween sock month! yeah baby!] [oh man, that would be another great post, my bizarre sock collection! I need help…I know DCM is saying that as he’s reading this!]

It did well for me today, well for the ankle part, the bottom of my foot (heel spur) didn’t fare as well, so it will be a process. I got home and iced my ankle. I took it easy and DCM and I walked the 5k, after the run, we found JS & PS, GW and his wife DW and CD, we chatted for a few minutes, took some pictures, picked up our finishers mug and then headed home.

When we got home it was hot shower time for me, DCM started the laundry and then got some rest on the couch, I spent the day chilling out and cross stitching on the sofa (wait until you see what I’m working on!).

Did I tell you I’m going back to Atlanta in January to do the Hot Chocolate 5k in January? There should be about 6 of us, how much fun will that be? I’m hoping RS joins us, it’s her birthday! CKM and I have already registered to work the expo, will be fun!

Today was quite the day (tomorrow I’ll tell you about Friday and Sunday since they are connected)

Last night we got hooked on Law & Order:SVU (Special Victims Unit for those not in the know) and Star Trek: TNG (The Next Generation), which will sort of tie in to tonight, I know I’m all over the place!

Today, we got up and headed into Denver to meet JS & PS, BR & NR for Oktoberfest. TT, who works with DCM, PS and BR, her boyfriend works for Human Movement, a company that puts on different types of events throughout the year, including Oktoberfest and multiple road races. Check out the steins we got!

image

We had a great time, got access to the VIP tent, which included food and drink, the most any of us drank was about 1/4 cup of cider! Everyone who had the brats and kielbasa said it was great. DCM was quite happy, there was sauerkraut. We walked around for a few hours checking out the food and vendors. DCM and I split a pretzel with four cheeses, yum! you should have seen some of the desserts, JS got a macaroon bigger than your head! They had rice crispie treats the size of a small Buick!

Home

After Oktoberfest, we headed home to hang out and someone, not saying who…needed real food! On the way we stopped at about four different Halloween supply stores, no Princess Leia costumes for three year olds! If I wanted to get her any number of boy Stat Wars costumes, no problem! (I may have found one online!)

We chilled out a bit, watched some Star Trek:TNG and then headed out to Dickens Opera House to see a friend from college, Oz, in the band he plays with a few times a year, Living With The Past, they are kind of spread out across the country.

The band was good, they are a Jethro Tull tribute band, and for the time we were there, we enjoyed ourselves. It was a great venue to see a band, reminded me a little of Smith’s Olde Bar in Atlanta.

We didn’t stay as long as we wanted to as we have to get up about 5:30 tomorrow morning to do the Hot Chocolate 5k, you know there will be a blog about that tomorrow.

The reason I mentioned Star Trek:TNG tying in to this post is that OZ and I went to college together, we met our freshman year and were steadfast friends immediately. There was a group of us, Oz, NB, KS, DR who used to watch Star Trek:TNG together every week. Oz even gave me a Klingon dictionary for my birthday one year!

I have to tell you it was so good to see Oz, the hug when we first saw each other was the absolute best! It felt like no time had passed. I’m hoping that when he’s back in May for the next gig, I hope I get to see him, spend some more time getting caught up.

{October 4, 2013}   Sofía Vergara cracks me up!

I think Sofia Vergara is a riot!

The first time I saw her was in Four Brothers, she played Tyrese Gibson’s girlfriend, she was so young in that movie, a firecracker Latina, a hothead with a short fuse and incredibly passionate and protective of her man. [LOVE this movie!]  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0430105/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_23

I saw Big Trouble, but don’t remember her in it, but it’s a very funny movie, so I recommend it. She was also a voice in Happy Feet Two, Carmen, who rejects Ramon left and right, even as a penguin, she’s sexy. She’s also in The Smurfs and New Years Eve, all great characters, not main players, but adds her own flair. She’s a great character actress, terrific timing and the fact that she’s hard to understand half the time is classic and sometimes makes fun of herself for that, which is even better.

I just realized who she reminds me of, Charo! Do you remember Charo from her guest appearances on The Love Boat [cuchi cuchi]? All her appearances late 70s into the 80s…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KBiXurSxg8. My favorite? When she was on the Carol Burnett Show, OMG! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1kOlWkjEHo

I know people love Sofia Vergara in Modern Family, I have tried to get into the show, but I just can’t seem to get into it, a lot of great actors, [I la la la love Ed O’Neill] just not a show for me, sorry Modern Family fans.

She’s going to be in the new Machete Kills movie coming out soon, it’s going to be awesome and awful all at the same time! I can’t wait to review it for you! [ask anyone how much I loved Machete!]

She has become a branding icon lately including working on commercials and seems to be having fun doing all of them, including some with Ellen Degeneres like the Cover Girl commercials http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpOaELc2XTs.

Her Pepsi commercials are cute, but what’s inspired me today is her new line of Kmart commercials, they crack me up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clYo2WfFkzE. More of dis, you can’t draw a woman with straight lines! More if dis, less of dis. More bustier! Just flat out funny! [ha ha, flat!]

She has great comic timing and a great sense of humor, seems to be a good sport, especially when poking fun at herself.

{October 3, 2013}   My Fair Wedding

No! I’m not getting married, I just la la la love this show!

Years ago, I would watch “A Wedding Story” before I got married, I used to watch “A Baby Story” (my cousing, SS was even on an episode!) when I was newly married and thinking about kids.

Recently, I found two shows that fascinate me. The first is Four Weddings, this is a show where they take four women who have never met and sort of pit them against each other; they are each competing for the chance to win a honeymoon. They attend each other’s weddings and then rate them on dress, venue, food, overall feel. It’s interesting to see how each bride differs in her style and the wedding she puts on. There have been some interesting ones, one bride said her vows in an aquarium tank, another in a converted theater that was set up to look dark and gothic, there were traditional sweet weddings, all different, still not sure why I am drawn to this.
http://www.tlc.com/tv-shows/four-weddings

The next show, the reason I started this post, is for My Fair Wedding. I watched it once or twice when I was traveling and thought it as fascinating and then…da da da..it’s on Netflix! And as you know, when I find a show I like, I just watch as many episodes there are and move on to the next show.

My Fair Wedding is hosted, sort of, by David Tutera. He’s a big time famous wedding planner with a thriving business who puts on these elaborate and extravagant weddings. This show centers around one bride that he selects who applies to be on the show and their wedding is, let’s just say, in need of guidance and flat out help. Some have themes: Picnic, Wizard of Oz, Motown! Mini trucks, Asian Fusion, Belly Dancing, the list goes on. Some brides, just don’t know what they want or their ideas are all over the place.

That’s where David Tutera comes in and basically saves the day, he takes over where he needs to. Everything from changing the wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses, venue, menu, anything that needs help.

One of the fun things to watch is when he first meets a bride, she shows him her vision and he keeps a straight face, especially if the idea is seriously out there! Off camera, he will tell us, the viewers what he’s thinking, but on camera, with the bride, he’s always intreagued. He is always complimentary when he sees the bridal gown and bridesmaids dresses, no matter how bad they are, he finds something positive.

Sometimes, he does love an idea or a theme, he might go with it in a small way incorporate it into the overall event, or he takes it and runs with it. But what he will do is make whatever is they want happen, within reason. He went against the grain and gave two brides black wedding dresses, who does that!

The big thing he does is listen to the bride, what they want, what their vision is and make it so much more, come to life, almost as he steps inside their minds and sees what they really want, sometimes it’s exactly what they say, sometimes it’s completely in the opposite direction.

The thing that amazes me, and possibly anyone who watches the show and the brides he works with is that he treats each bride as if she is the only bride he has ever worked with, they are the most special and beautiful woman on the planet.

He has approximately three weeks to put the wedding together and he will do things with her to make her feel special, it might be jewelry, selecting flowers, a makeover, signature cocktails, food, perfume, something to help her relax, like swinging from a trapeze, zip lining, hot air balloon rides, you name it, he’ll do it!

Ultimately, no matter what he does, it’s to make the bride feel special and have a day that she and her husband will remember and treasure for the rest of their lives. You can tell how much he touches these women, not just in words, but in action and you truly feel that he loves each and every one of them. Aside from the tears of joy and wonderment when he reveals their weddings to the couple, they can tell how much of himself he put into their theme, ceremony and reception, their words of love and devotion to him for all he did for them, sometimes it’s just words, sometimes it’s a token of their appreciation, in a physical gift or a donation to one of the many charities he is passionate about.

I love watching each and every episode, sometimes I’m not sure about his choices, but he knows what’s best for that bride and the wedding party and sometimes I marvel at how he’s going to come up with a wedding that brings the bride’s vision to life. Sometimes I wonder what I would do if I wanted a themed wedding and how David Tutera would bring it all together.

All in all, I really enjoy the show and it’s just a feel good time and of course, being a girl, from time to time, I tear up at the ceremony, who doesn’t?

{October 3, 2013}   Now You See Me

Abra cadabra…I have to tell you, since this movie is about magic and there are twists and turns and surprises and it’s called “Now You
See Me” I almost left the post blank. Little play on the title, maybe some surrealism, but how fun would that be? Aside from to me anyway.

We absolutely loved this movie! We actually watched it before Redemption, I so wish we had watched in the other direction! But I digress.

As I said, we loved this movie. It has a great cast, with some serious heavy hitters. Mark Ruffalo plays the FBI agent tracking down “The Four Horsemen”, four magicians with different talents: Woody Harrelson plays a mentalist, someone who reads people and places suggestions in their subconscious made a great con artist. Jesse Eisenberg plays a straight up magician, card tricks, slight of hand. Isla Fisher played an illusionist, doing Harry Houdini type of escapes and Dave Franco rounded out the Four Horsemen, more of a street magician/hustler, not great, but with potential, he’s kind of the baby of the group.

Morgan Freeman plays a retired magician who has a show that exposes magicians, tells you how they did what they did. Michael Caine is the bankroll for the Four Horsemen, private planes, cart blanche.

Not a spoiler alert (from the previews), they are going to rob a bank, virtually and literally, from a Las Vegas theater, ooooh. As I said, Mark Ruffalo is the FBI agent convinced they did it and will stop at nothing to get them! Morgan Freeman keeps trying to figure out how they did it and the Four Horsemen are doing what they do best and having a good time.

Over the course of the movie, you watch them grow and hone their skills and work together, they weren’t totally on the same page when they got together initially, but someone knew what they were capable of and brought them together. You keep wondering who the guy in the blue sweatshirt is.

I really can’t give you much more than that because there are too many twists, turns and surprises, it really would be a spoiler alert. Bottom line, we recommend this movie!

{October 1, 2013}   Grrrr…

You know the expression “so mad I could spit nails”?

Well, I’m there.

The day started fine, I got a call from the doctors office, the X-Ray was fine, just a sprain, keep doing my exercises and get the recommended brace and I will be fine. I will have to do the exercises for about six months, no running until it feels right and wear the brace when I’m doing a run or series ou walk. Going to get one tomorrow, well two, one for mud runs and one for everything else! Kind of like my running shoes and smart feet.

I went to work, seemed to go well, made a new friend in the new trainer, we went to lunch and got to know each other.

So, there are a few reasons I am grrrrr….the laptop they gave me is…it’s running Windows XP, I didn’t know they made those anymore! Well, it runs alright for about ten minutes, then locks up or freezes and then crashes the internet, a little frustrating, I have been told I should be be getting a new one soon, that’s something.

Next, I am not 100% prepared to talk about because you don’t know who is reading your posts, but I am just so frustrated. For those of you who know me know that I can get along with just about anyone. I am also laid back and it takes a lot to get me really steamed so you may have guessed, I’m there.

I am a libra and I fit a lot of the libra qualities, one thing is being balanced (apparently I’m also supposed to be decisive and washy washy, huh?) well, being balanced, I can work with anyone, if you have a stressed out person, I will help de-stress, help them cope; a hyper person, I will calm them down (I know some of you have a hard time believing this one!); a laid back, possibly lazy person, I wake them up.

I think I’m pretty agreeable, well at least that’s what I told myself and I agreed, ha ha, sorry, couldn’t resist! I am also very confident in my abilities, if I know something, I know it, if I don’t, I can wing it, but I will ask for help until I do get it so the next time, I’m spot on. Just like everyone, I don’t like to be questioned on everything. Check with me, see if I know it or have questions, but do it in such a what is nurturing, not condescending.

Certain people seem happy with me, others, I don’t know what I did.

Ok I really want to say more, but I’m not going to, I need to stew a bit, then get over it, and tomorrow have a renewed attitude and a positive outlook and be myself and hopefully not let this get to me again. Wish me luck and send me a hug!

{October 1, 2013}   Happy Birthday to Me!

Flat out, this is a selfish post, it is going to be all about…ME! [it’s my birthday, I can do that!]

It started out nicely, I went to see a doctor about my ankle [told you I would go], I got an x-ray and as soon as I have results, I’ll share.

On my way home, I got a call from my dad or…”Western Union”, a tradition started a very long time ago, we call each other, posing as Western Union, in a very thick NY accent and sing “Happy Birthday”. He wished me a wonderful birthday and asked what I was getting…not a clue, I’ll let you know when I get home!

I got home and I opened my cards from my dad and they were precious! He always sends the most awesomest cards! Once he found out that I bought skis, he helped me purchase my ski pass for the season! Thank you!

Next, I opened my card from TS and KS! Gift cards to AMC, how did they know it would be perfect? HA HA! TS and I used to go on movie dates at least once a month! Something I definitely miss, hopefully we’ll be able to do it again, soon!

Movies Movies Movies! Thank you!!! Let's go! I'll meet you there!

Movies Movies Movies! Thank you!!! Let’s go! I’ll meet you there!

Next…I was told to sit on the couch and close my eyes and then…I got my birthday present from DCM!!! It was a brand new gorgeous red Huffy Bike! A beach comber like I wanted! The red is like a radio flyer wagon! It has a basket and a “luggage rack” which extends, I can bring a bunch of stuff home. Can you tell I’m excited???

Wait, why just imagine it, I’ll show you, here’s a picture!

Thank you DCM!!!

Thank you DCM!!!

I then went to work for a few hours and on my way home, finally caught up with TS, we were playing phone tag and then I got to talk to SRH, it was all good.

I stopped at the mall on the way to pick up a much belated birthday present for KK, I am a baad aunt, but I hope I make up for it!

While I was there, I caught up with CKM and thanked her again for my birthday presents! She had asked me what I wanted, I told her world peace [when we were kids, we would ask my dad what he wanted for his birthday, he used to say “Peace on Earth and a digital watch] and I got World Peas!!! and a stack of Mary Kay Andrews books, such a great author, makes me homesick for Savannah!

Thank you for World Peas!!!

Thank you for World Peas!!!

When I got back to the apartment, I went to the mailbox and found a package from LD, how did she know I would need leg warmers soon! And great colors and look hand knitted, I love them!

Leg warmers! Gonna need them soon!

Leg warmers! Gonna need them soon!

Got a text and email from SDL, did I get the package from her and Miss A? FedEx said it was delivered and signed for by Brown, who’s Brown? DCM went down to the office to check and when I opened the package…LA LA LA LOVE! A charming metal photo board that says “I often daydream that my life is just as it is now…Only I have well behaved hair and I live in Paris”, is that me or what?

It had 2 mini magnetic picture frames, one with a picture of the pickle, better known as MIss A and the other, a picture from one of our girls gatherings [RS, CKM, DL, SDL, Miss A and me!].

Ah...Paris!

Ah…Paris!

One of the gifts I got is a fantastic picture that one of my oldest friends, CWB’s daughter, SB made for me, I love getting home made gifts from fantastic children. Thank you!

Thank you for the original artwork!

Thank you for the original artwork!

Last, but not least, I got to Face Time with my sister and my girls! As soon as we connected, everyone started singing Happy Birthday! We caught up on school, what did they do? EJS went on her first field trip! They went to a pumpkin patch and selected a pumpkin to study in school tomorrow. MGS showed me how she makes letters with pens.

EJS wanted to know when her costume was coming and asked about the treat bag, I showed her what it looked like, oohs and ahhs [I might post pictures in another post] and then I showed MGS what her bag looked like, big oohs and ahhs! I also showed them the costume I found for MGS, SOOO cute! [remember the orange monster I showed you the other day? I made her bag the same color!]

We talked for a while, they sang and danced for me, it was awesome and the abundant kisses when we were getting off Face Time, LOVE LOVE LOVE, how could I not?

It was time to head to dinner, I called LD to thank her for the leg warmers, it was nice to chat with her, thank you again!

We went to that great Chinese restaurant I told you about some time ago, The Golden Lotus,  http://goldenlotuscuisine.com/, they have that fantastic “chicken” for us ‘vegheads’. When we sat down, DCM warned me not to eat too much, there was cake at home! WAHOO! I didn’t know there would be cake! [it’s usually the one thing I ask for, one year, SDL made me an amazing cake covered in strawberries as my gift, Y U M!!!]

At dinner, we caught up on our day. He told me that LB was making cookies with her mammaw, CG, and she asked “Can we send these to my grandpa?” AWE! Then he said that he had mentioned to CG that he kept forgetting to tell CS about the Swiper costume and she said, “We know, we’ve been following the blog!” How flattered am I?

Homeward bound to check Facebook and be amazed by all the birthday wishes that have come in today! I was touched that they even started on Friday! How lucky am I? I did my best to thank everyone personally, it’s so important to me to say thank you. You took the time to wish me well, how could I not?  Wow, was I blown away!!!

I also loaded an album of the gifts I got on Facebook, it was fun to caption all the pictures! [you’re seeing most of them here!]

Somewhere in the middle of all my thank you’s, it was time for cake! I said “is it time?” “Yes!” I turned off the light and around the corner came a Carvel Cake!!! A tradition in our house growing up in the summer, we would get a Carvel ice cream cake, top is vanilla and the bottom is chocolate and the middle has chocolate crunchies. [neither one of us care for chocolate ice cream, so we both had the top!] The candles had prism color flames!  http://www.carvel.com/

It's time for Cake! Carvel Cake!!! Y U M!!!

It’s time for Cake! Carvel Cake!!! Y U M!!!

The last thing I had to do today was to share with all my friends and family here with my post so, for those of you who know me: Thank you! Thank you ! Thank you! For making my birthday an amazing day. I love you all!

As we know, I like my sisters in the world love Jason Statham, I believe I was disappointed for the first time in my life, sigh…

Friday night we watched Parker, with Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez, well that’s the way it was billed and on the cover, this was not really the case. Nick Nolte and Michael Chiklis (remember The Commish? He seems to be a bad guy in everything he’s done since!) and Patti Lupone were also a part of the cast, the more well known names that I could remember, sorry.

What’s the saying..honor among thieves? The story is that Jason Statham is a theif, there is a job that gets botched, but they get away with the take, $1M, he is done, just wants his take and he’s out. They have another job they want him to do with them, he says no, he just wants his money and he’s out of there. Apparently they don’t like his answer, so they try to kill him, nice.

The rest of the movie is kind of a revenge movie, he just wants his money, but in the process he is going to get back at the guys who did this to him. There’s also a hit man who is after him, of course one of the other bad guys is related to the mob in Chicago, go figure. Let’s just say, they got theirs. Jennifer Lopez did come into play, but not the way you are lead to believe by the jacket. She did get to kiss Jason Statham, lucky girl!

I will say that even though he gets revenge and justice, and his money, all he wanted was what he was owed, he had the crap kicked out of him left and right! Overall, not a bad movie, not the best, but not bad, definitely a Jason Statham vehicle.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1904996/?ref_=sr_2

Last night we decided to make pizza , yum! and watch some movies, I did some shopping and DCM picked the movies. First we watched Now You See Me, which we loved and I will review another night and I wish we had watched this movie second, I would have felt better.

The second movie we watched was Redemption , another Jason Statham movie. When do I get that 1.5 hours back? I know it was Jason Statham, but…(per Harry Potter, I don’t think there’s enough chocolate in the world to make me feel better!)

The description from imdb.com “Homeless and on the run from a military court martial, a damaged ex-special forces soldier navigating London’s criminal underworld seizes an opportunity to assume another man’s identity — transforming into an avenging angel in the process.”

This was pretty accurate, but overall depressing as hell. Yes, he was an avenging angel, but he was also a very bad man, one doesn’t seem to outweigh the other unfortunately. He was good to the other homeless men he knew, when he had money, he would order takeout for them, which was delivered to the soup kitchen where a particular sister worked. He tried to do good in things for her, she was incredibly conflicted. There was a girl that he shared a cardboard hut with, he looked out for her, I say girl, she was in her mid twenties, and he did what he could to protect her, in the end it wasn’t enough, but he found the guy and it was all over.

As the description says, he transforms himself, he cleans up, gets clean, does what he can to make things right, but it’s never just right. In the end, he falls back into oblivion, probably never to be seen again, I still don’t feel good after watching this.

So, as I said, was Parker redemption for Redemption? I guess not since Parker came out first! but did redemption even make it to the theater in the states?
