{April 25, 2013}   Falling apart

I may very well be falling apart.

How old am I? Some days I feel like my body has it in for me and some of those days I think, “ok, you win”. Who wins and who am I talking to?

This last year has taken a toll on my body. I am only talking about the external, internal is a treat. I’ve had bunions on both my feet, something I inherited from my mom and grandfather, thanks! Most of the time I can deal with it, but it has hampered my ability to purchase some really cute shoes that might dig into them, I bought some ballet flats and said “the hell with it” and sometimes it’s a good day and sometimes it’s a bad day. There are times that they hurt after a long day, standing for a long time or just for being there, I have even woken up screaming from the pain.

When I went to see Dr Julian for something else, we talked about surgery, he said bunion surgery was his favorite, when I asked why, he told me because it was easy for him, and he didn’t have to deal with the recovery, gee thanks! I’ve considered it off and on for years, but, I found out, it’s 2-4 weeks off your feet completely then about 3 (maybe 6, I could be completely wrong here) months full recovery. That means no walking, no races, what? Nope!

The reason I went to see Dr Julian, and by the way, amazing podiatrist in Atlanta! Was my feet were hurting after I walked a few miles and when I did the Atlanta Women’s 2 Day, 30 miles in 2 days, I had blisters that had blisters, ouch. He told me I had heel spurs, thank goodness I wasn’t the hypochondriac I thought I might be turning into! He gave me some Smart Feet and recommended the sneakers I needed and exercises that I have to do. The Smart Feet are great, I just picked up some new ones, (they need to be replaced every 8 months) I wore them to my last mud run, so now I need new clean ones and a pair of new clean sneakers. I vowed never to run any kind of race without the proper foot-ware and Smart Feet, I learned my lesson, that which I am still paying for over a month later. (I do my exercises most of the time, I really try.)

The next fun thing to happen…I wrenched my knee! I was coming downhill, through the woods, in the mud, at a race and something snapped, great! Oh my word, I don’t know if I’ve been in that kind of pain before, well, maybe kidney stones, but it kept waking me up! Now I am very careful when I run, especially downhill. Luckily, each time it has happened, it was close to the end of a race. Yes, I said each time, I never claimed to be that smart! I saw someone after a race, he wrapped it with Rock Tape http://rocktape.com/products/tape/. I was rockin! And it helped! He told me what the issue was and I would love to tell you, if I could remember! One thing he told me to do was lunges, let me know how that worked out for you! I know, need to make an appointment with an orthopedist and I will, I promise! It’s hard to remember to make an appointment when nothing feels wrong, you know?

Now…I think I have carpel tunnel, really? I know it comes from a lot of typing and using your wrists, well, I have all the symptoms and when I spoke to a pharmacist, he said it sounded like carpel tunnel. So, it wakes me up at night, but when my hand falls asleep while I am asleep, then I don’t feel it, kind of ironic, isn’t it? I am wearing a wrist brace and making an appointment, when it happened the last time, I an to cancel the appointment. I didn’t think anything of it when it first happened, it only lasted a few days, these last few times have been for weeks a a time. I know, I know, make an appointment. I will, tomorrow! What I’m afraid of with the carpel tunnel, they’ll do an X-ray, tell me to take Tylenol and wear a wrist brace, thanks and here’s your copay.

I can tell you that as much pain as I am in, it has not stopped me and I just keep going, but wait, I’m not done. When my feet hurt too much to walk, I do take it easy and don’t do my morning run/walks, like today and yesterday, so there. I am sort of taking care of myself.

How old am I? Some days my body feels ancient, but I am stubborn like a 3year old, I won’t stop moving! Somebody stop me! (Wish me luck in the race tomorrow!)

{April 24, 2013}   My Monopoly Collection

It all started with The Wizard of Oz…

For my birthday, my friend LGR gave me Wizard of Oz Monopoly and it seemed to take off from there. I played Monopoly as a kid, but it wasn’t a great love or fascination for me, but I enjoyed it, I was a passive player. I know people who have marathons, can play for hours and others who don’t like to play, for that reason.

And for that reason, is started hosting Monopoly Marathons, I set up 3-4 games, depending on how many people attend, one in each room, a different version (we’re getting there) and everyone is on a team. One person from each team is at a table, so each table has someone from team 1,2,3,4. We play for 30 minutes, then when the buzzer sounds, or I yell “Time!” everyone moves to another table, you don’t have to go to the next logical table, as long as there is one person from each team at a table. When you sit at the table, you have to sit at your teammate’s seat and play the hand that they left. You may have started at that table with money, property, hotels and come back and find that you are bankrupt!

People seem to like it, it goes quickly and you’re never in one spot for too long. At the end of the tournament, there are prizes for the team with the most money/property. I also ask people to bring specific food, never telling them what the versions we are playing. For example, Kiss-opoly (based on the band) I asked for Hershey’s kisses, we played NY Yankees, I asked for peanuts, pretzels and cracker jacks, get the idea?

My friend AM is uncanny when it comes to Monopoly, he is like Yoda, he plays without looking at the cards, he knows exactly how much each property is worth, what the mortgage is and what it would take to get it out of hock, without even thinking, he’s amazing! He also gave me Waffle-opoly!
I got The Beatles from my dad for Chanukah and my latest? DCM found Klingon! Geek out people!

Before I list out my collection, as people have asked me to do, I want to tell you about my pride and joy. Years ago, and I mean years, I cross stitched an afghan with a Monopoly board, I think one day I a going to cross stitch the properties. I have played on the blanket, kids love it. I hope you enjoy the picture.

I once took a picture with all the monopolies I had at the time, I am 5’1 & 1/2 ” tall, with my hand extended I couldn’t reach the top of the pile and I’ve added more since. I am spoiled! People will buy them for me, I have only purchased a few, and I’ve played many of them, but I love them all!

I have had pictures of my collection on Facebook and I was so tickled when someone I have known since grade school and reconnected with on Facebook, SBS, said she had her mom’s Monopoly from when she was a kid and would I like it? Oh my yes, she dropped it off at my dad’s house and now it is part of my collection! How lucky am I?

How about this…I was in Las Vegas with my dad in October 2009, staying at Caesar’s and what did we find? The World Monopoly Championship! What are the odds? There were players from all over the world! They had team jackets, track suits, coaches, translators, separate judges and bankers! It was awesome! The pot was exactly $20,071, exactly what is in the bank in a game of Monopoly!

I didn’t start out collecting these, but I love each and every one of them, I hope to have more, so if you find a unique one, one that screams YOU, send it my way! I will love it dearly!

Here now, is my collection (some of them are not Parker Bros)

{April 23, 2013}   Fortunes

Why are we so fascinated with our fortunes? Isn’t the future something that should be a surprise, so to speak, or at least to a point.

Some people believe in Tarot Cards, some go to psychics, but I always think that if a psychic has something to tell me, they should be calling me, right?

Ok, what inspired my blog is even more basic, fortune cookies. I don’t know why we’re so fascinated with fortune cookies, ok, well I am! I love getting my fortune cookie after a meal, this would be Chinese food specifically, I don’t know another nationailty that gives out fortune cookies with your check. I have a buddah bowl that I painted for my fortunes, I hope to find it in a box some day. I also have “A Fortune Collecting Journal” http://www.amazon.com/Fortune-Collecting-Journa-Potter-Style/dp/0307352331. I had entered a few fortunes then I couldn’t find the book and now I have it again, guess what I’m going to start doing!

Sometimes we have to wonder what the fortune maker was smoking when they wrote the fortunes! My dad’s SO, LD got a fortune “Next time, you leave the house, turn left” what? I had one that said “You are a good man” huh? There was a commerical that someone sent me, and I have been trying to find it for you that showed how fortunes are created, it was very funny [someone in the basement of the restaurant was listening to conversations and wrote accordingly].

There are some cool things about fortune cookies, not only is it a tasty treat, but your lottery numbers are included! I like when you get to learn a new phrase or word, they give you the english and then the chinese, both written in chinese and the phonetic pronunciation.

Do you ever get the feeling that the writer was bored? Or that your fortune was meant for someone else? Scary when some of them sort of come true!

Last night, I went for dinner with CKM, her fortune said [and I am paraphrasing] “You are a good creative writer, you should write a book” she looked at me, huh? I laughed, that should have been mine, I’ve been writing a book for a while, if I had gotten it, it might have been a sign. My fortune said “You will soon be reunited with an old friend” ok, I’ll bite, I wonder who. I don’t usually listen.

But… lo and behold, last night, as I was checking things out on FaceBook, I got a message from someone I haven’t spoken to in about 3 years! What are the odds? We started talking and caught up for about 45 minutes. So, maybe my fortune was true.

Wait, that means I need to play the lottery with the numbers on the back, wish me luck!

And good luck to you!

{April 22, 2013}   Timing is everything!

So, we know that I’m moving and no, not ever post will be about moving, but today it will be, so there!

When I became single again, we decided to put the house on the market. Out came the boxes, in went the stuff. The house didn’t sell, the house didn’t sell, the house didn’t sell, then the house didn’t rent, but the stuff was still in boxes.

About a year or so ago, I decided, ok, I’m going to be here a while, even when DCM and I talked about moving to Colorado, it wasn’t going to be for about 3 years, so, I decided to get comfortable in my house, I was going to be here for a while and out came the stuff from the boxes and then a few months go, out went the boxes, to the curb and into the recycling netherworld, wherever that may be.

I’m settled, feeling like its mine, I even refinance the house, it’s now in my name 100%, sigh of relief, sit back a relax. Ha!

Conversation with DCM, I think I’m going to move to Colorado sooner than I thought (discussion ensues, all good). Oh no! Where are all my boxes and I have to take everything down again? Oh brother!

So, here I sit, getting ready to put my house on the market and I have very few boxes! Here’s where the timing is everything comes in…you knew I’d get there eventually!

CTS posts on her Facebook page…all new products, does anyone need boxes? CKM happens to see the post and says, yes, JRS needs some! I proceed to have a dream about seeing CTS and talking about boxes (she also was the first to see my newly painted bedroom) and she was excited about her new tote on wheels, it was a dream people!

Then today, an email goes out from the property management company, someone is giving away boxes in the neighborhood! How fast do you think I emailed them? Faster! They called me immediately, I went up to their house, at the front of the neighborhood and four trips later, I have boxes and boxes and boxes, wardrobe boxes (with the rods) and boxes and boxes of bubble wrap! They and to save a box for their grandkids, they promised!

So, as they say, timing is everything and this case is it! Thank you to whoever put that into play! Now, gotta go, need to fill some boxes!

{April 21, 2013}   Navajo White…very neutral

The bedroom and bathroom are now back to a neutral color…sigh.

As you may have deduced, I a moving across the country and what I have to do here is sell my house, fingers crossed for me my friends! And what has to happen when you need to sell a house? You have to stage and fix stuff, and pack, pack and pack, ugh.

So this weekend, I had a Painting, Packing, Pizza Party! Sounds fun, right? Right!

CKM and CA came over Friday night to help convert the, get this, Pucker Up Green bathroom, yes I said, Pucker Up green! And today, SDL came with Miss A and her sister, DJL to help CKM and I paint the PUMPKIN orange bedroom! Ever have the desire to sleep in a tangerine? This would have been your opportunity! I say that SDL came to help CKM and I because CKM spent the weekend, bless her!

We had a really good system going in the rooms, in the bathroom CA did the upper trim, I did the lower trim and CKM took care of the middle with the paint roller. It worked quite well, we rocked the bathroom in about three hours. Yes, there was pizza involved, not to worry, we started with that.

The good thing, the paint came with primer in it, so we didn’t need 3 coats, just 2. The bathroom is now a nice cream, kind of bland compared to the rest of the house but its a room that someone can look at and imagine how they might want to paint it,

Today, same system, different players. SDL on the upper trim, me on the bottom and CKM in the middle with the roller. The good thing was that the bedroom did not have vaulted ceiling like the bathroom, no light fixtures to get around, definitely easier. We finished in about three hours as well. We definitely made a great team and I didn’t have to do it by myself which is the best part!

I’ve attached a few photos, you can get an idea of the colors it was to the color it is/needs to be. The realtor is happy and my response to her text, after seeing the pictures, first “you’re awesome and a Wonder Woman”well, yes… and, “you must be dyin!” ” nope, I still have the rest of house for color!”

CKM and I did some packing last night, but, folks, I got a lot of stuff and even though we know we did a bunch, it didn’t seem like it! Tonight after everyone left, I packed up some stuff in the living room. Next weekend is part two of Pizza, Packing, Painting Party, luckily for anyone who comes to help, no painting!

Thank you SDL, CKM and CA for helping me paint, you guys were fantastic and a life saver! And thanks to my neighbor, DG for the extra high ladder and cutting my grass, you’re awesome! I am one lucky girl!

{April 20, 2013}   I am a Dirty Girl!!!

Today I did the Dirty Girl 5k Mud Run and Obstacle Course with CKM and it was AWESOME!

Hey, remember…. family blog!

Today was a great day! CKM spent the night after helping me to paint last night [great job by the way! texted a pic to the realtor and she was amazed!]. We got up, went to Bojangles drive through for breakfast. It’s one of CKM’s favorite places and there aren’t any where she lives and when she knows she’s coming to see me, wahoo!

On to Lake Lanier Island Resort for the Dirty Girl 5K Mud Run. Paid our $10 to park, found a spot, had to walk what seemed like a mile [on the way back, after the race, felt like 10!] and then stand in a very long line for a very long time to check in and get our race bibs. Next, pick up our shirts and necklaces [apparel and bling, what could be better!], drop off our bag at back check, last time at the port o’ jane, then off to the start.

There was a sea of pink, apparently we missed the memo! I was in all black and CKM in black and purple, not to worry, we still looked fabulous! [my sneakers are pink does that count?] and we were off! There were some great team shirts, a lot in support of breast cancer awareness, so just think about all the puns and go from there!

There were 13 obstacles and none of them were very difficult, that’s what I liked about it, it was something everyone could do. Some were in the mud, some climbing, crawling, under, over, through. Since this is a women’s only event, I would say if you have never done an obstacle race, this would be a great one to cut your teeth on. There was some running, but it wasn’t mandatory and all the obstacle signs said “we won’t tell if you go around” so there was no pressure.

There was a lot of comraderie, even with people you didn’t know, you encouraged, you helped and if, perchance your teammate was not muddy after the 3rd or 4th obstacle [DEFINITELY NOT myself or CKM] then, you helped those teams out by running up to the VERY clean members and hugging them! this was a mud run ladies, don’t buy expensive clothes and expect to not get dirty!

There were cargo net ladders, muddy baths, walls to climb [I did not skip one obstacle!!!] a slide that was so much fun, we did it twice! no one cared! the best was we weren’t being timed, so have some fun!

At the finish line we danced into the water to clean off the mud, but not to worry it’s still on our race bibs!

After the race, we collected our bags, went into the tent and hosed off, literally! There was a pipe that ran the length of the tent and hoses with spray handles on the end and the water was fffffrrriiigggiiiddd and if you were a modest person, you might have been able to find a spot in the very back corner to change, but if you wanted to wash off the mud, bite the bullet, drop your drawers and hose off!

There was a sign posted “no cell phones, no photos” makes sense, all these women in the all together, who would want their photos taken, although, i thought it seemed like an artist installment, women together, something like that. you did your thing, got dressed and got out, simple as that.

Next, it was on to the merchandise tent…sweatshirt and performance shirt later [it’s going to be cold where I’m going, so CKM reminded me] and the sweatshirt is cozy and the performance shirt has a pocket and a hood, how could I not? CKM and I thought it would be fun to be twins, but, as it turns out…the shirt I liked didn’t suit her and the shirt she liked didn’t work for me! what are the odds?

Gather all belongings and new purchases, head the 20 miles back to the car, I’m telling you, after the race, it seemed to take forever to get back to the car! On to Cracker Barrel for brunch, along with a whole bunch of other Dirty Girls, we managed to keep our heads off our plates.

After lunch, get in the car, drop the top and away we went!

We are so doing this race again next year, even during the race, after the 3rd obstacle, we were talking about doing it again, who we thought would enjoy doing it with us and what cities we could do it in! Would I fly back to Atlanta to do the race with CKM next year? You betcha! [April happens to coincide with some important events that I want to be here for, so bonus!] and would CKM fly to Colorado to do the race with me? Why not!

If I haven’t stressed this enough, this was a very fun race that I recommend to anyone, well, any woman, who is looking for an obstacle race, a fun time, no pressure and lots of other women to share the experience with. Go for it! It will be worth the price!

{April 19, 2013}   Whew and thank you!

What a day!

It started early in Boulder, had to get up, get moving, get to the airport and get back to Atlanta!

DCM dropped me off, we said our goodbyes and off I went. It was sad and not sad…we’re going to see each other in a few weeks and then I’m moving out the in about a month and a half, so, it’s all good.

Got to the airport, walked through the doors and back outside to curbside checkin because the line for Southwest Airlines was ridiculous! An hour inside or five minutes outside? Hmmm..I wonder.

As I am going through security, I decide this is a good time to let my dad know I’m at the airport and a thank you text to DCM, guess what I realize is not in my pocket, yup, you guessed it my cell phone! I break out the work blackberry, call DCM and say ” Guess what’s in your truck!” His response..”we’ll it’s not me because I’m walking into the terminal with your phone!” Is he THE best or what! He had been trying to get me on my blackberry, but it had been turned off! Crisis averted!

I had enough time to get a tshirt for DG, for taking care of my babies and one for CKM and a hat for my dad, get to the gate, get on the plane, settle in (for a long winters nap, kidding!). During the flight, the man sitting next to me asked about my watch, so of course I shared the love.

Watched a movie, then I was back in Atlanta, about 20 minutes early. Still took me 2 hours from the time we landed to getting home.

I stopped by Home Depot to pick up supplies for the painting party! Yup, that’s right, I said painting party, I’m selling my house, of course there will be some painting!

I had sent out an email “The 4 P’s: Packing, Painting, Pizza Party!” People have rallied! Tonight, CKM and CA came over and were fantastic! CA said she was good with trim work and boy is she good! CKM was a demon with the roller and me, you ask? The bottom trim, I’m kind of lacking in stature, so I got the lower to the ground stuff.

My bedroom is…lets just say, it’s like sleeping in a tangerine and my bathroom..think Kermit the Frog. So, we worked on the bathroom, now, it is a nice cream color, back to the boring color the builder wanted, sigh… But it’s what I need to do, it was one of those colors it’s hard to get past, I understand. Now, the possibilities are endless. Thanks to DG for the use of the giant ladder!

I picked up a very nice neutral color, told the realtor and she said take a picture after you start send it, let me check it, I told her it was just right, not to worry. She worried, so I sent a picture of the color card up against the wall, almost. Perfect match, told ya!

Crazy enough, while we were working, here cams Bella, my newest addition to the furry family. She hasn’t been upstairs since in a very long time, she doesn’t get on that well with the other cats, but she was determined to be up there with us painting. Peanut never said boo, but Jymy wasn’t too happy, but Bella stood her ground.

About 11:30 my allergies kicked in really bad and I had a sneezing attack, I think that was my cue to pack it up for the night.

So, now I sit here, writing to you, Peanut is on my left side, Jymy is on the other end of the bed and Bella is sitting on the floor to my right, can’t believe it! I have all my kids with me, I like it!

Tomorrow is a big day, CKM and I are doing the Dirty Girl Run, it’s a 5k obstacle race for women only. http://www.godirtygirl.com/. Time for some shut eye and rest, for after the race, we do this all over again!

Thank you thank you thank you CKM and CA! I soooo could not have done this without you!

{April 18, 2013}   Making People Laugh

Making someone laugh is great. Hearing a good belly laugh, terrific.

I think you will probably agree, one of the greatest sounds in the world is a child’s laugh. Why else would there be so many videos online, cellphone ringtones.

Are you able to make others laugh? Make yourself laugh? Laugh hard enough to snort? [yeah, the last two are me, more often than not].

I love getting someone to laugh.

I used to make my sister laugh when we were kids with childish body humor, ok, so it was even well into our teens and young adult hood, but we’re sisters, that’s what we do. Now, we share a look, a joke, an inside joke, sometimes, it’s hiding our faces when we don’t want to be seen laughing, is it wrong when a child is having a tantrum and you need to keep a straight face? One of the best laughs my sister and I had in recent years was when her first born was a few months old, and the three of us were in the park, it was wonderful to see her let go and fall apart laughing like that.

My dad has a great sense of humor, he loves to laugh and he can draw the attention of a comic on stage, I guess I take after him. He loves to tell a good joke and to hear one, i know that when I hear a good joke, sometimes I have to call him right away so I don’t forget. I told him one recently that I thought he was going to fall on the floor, even better, we were telling EJ a bedtime story and she made a gesture and said something that reminded us of the joke, and we had a very hard time collecting ourselves, EJ was taken with our laughter and couldn’t help herself, she started giggling and it was hard to stop, just kind of fueled us as well. He and I have laughed at the same things in movies, shared a moment, even a look. Sometimes he’s like my conspirator, it’s fun!

EJ and MG are giggle monsters, just get them in a hug and kiss their necks or snuggle up with them and start to tickle them, it’s non stop laughter and who doesn’t want to hear that! Miss A loves to bounce and have wind blown in her face, tickle her in the right spot, she becomes a snorter, which, in turn, makes me laugh and snort!

I like to make my friends laugh, mostly at my own expense, with dorky stories about myself, but sometimes it’s a shared memory, a look, but mostly…a dorky story about me, who wouldn’t sacrifice themselves for their friends? And shared stories are what we are going to look back on when we’re much much much older, to get us through the tough times and make us smile.

With DCM, we laugh a lot, mostly because we have a similar twisted sense of humor. We might be talking about something and one or the other will make a bad pun, “you had to go there, didn’t you?”. I’ll pull out a movie quote, sometimes at the oddest moments and he will bust out with a good deep belly laugh; while we are in a movie, I will make comments and he can’t help but laugh. Facebook makes us both crack up, his granddaughter LB, makes us laugh, especially when he wants to Facetime with her and she’s looking for me and Elmo, so sad, but also funny. Then, sometimes, when we are sitting together, I realize he’s reading a new post and I know exactly when he’s going to laugh [kind of like he did when he read “you had to go there, didn’t you?]

All I can say is enjoy life and at least once a day, have a laugh!

{April 17, 2013}   Homey

Just what I wanted. Tonight was homey and just right.

This morning we checked out of the hotel and came to the apartment that DCM has been living in, it’s the corporate apartment for the company he works for. DCM dropped me and the luggage off, kissed me goodbye and off to the office he went.

I set up shop in the living room on a very comfy chair, mobile desk and got to work, I had a conference call right away. It was snowing all day, still snowing a little as we speak. The time difference is still a bit odd, it’s still light later, I start working earlier so i finish earlier by Mountain Time [3pm here, 5pm in Atlanta], that’s kind of fun! Same number of hours, but if i can fool myself, who am I to burst my bubble?

DCM and I chatted a few times during the day, always a welcome distraction. Then, at the end of my workday, my friend, SRH called to catch up and then DCM was home, that was fun, I told SRH I needed to go, my honey was home, I know, very silly, but it felt good.

We went to the grocery store to pick up food for dinner, couldn’t wait to not go out to eat or eat in the hotel room! We got home, chilled and then cooked dinner. What I really liked…we cooked together. After dinner, we chilled out together, watching some DVR’d shows, both of us on our laptops, geek city! And now, we are sitting back, relaxing on the couch, there is a fire going and we are like a regular couple.

Ah…domestic bliss.

When I told people I would be moving to Colorado, on several occasions, I was told, by different people, bring a change of clothes for every season when you leave the house in the morning!

Apparently, you can have all four seasons happen in one afternoon!

Well, here it is, the middle of April, when, as they say…”April Showers bring may flowers”. No where in that rhyme did they mention snow, let alone a snowstorm!!

I flew into Denver Friday night, it was in the 70s when I left Atlanta and it was in the 50s when I landed. Not too bad, I had worn long sleeves and had two jacket options in my bag, nothing heavy. Saturday was gorgeous! It was in the low to mid 60s, jeans and short sleeve shirt, maybe a light jacket, there was a breeze. Didn’t even need the jacket I took into the movie theater. Nice.

Sunday was a little chillier, but nice, mid 50s; long sleeves, jeans and a light jacket, still a nice day.

I looked at the weather forecast before I left Atlanta, it said lows of 40 and highs of 58 all week. Where was the snowstorm warning? Avalanche warning? It started snowing Sunday evening, with no signs of stopping. Wait, do I hear some music starting? “Oh, the weather outside is frightening…” The snow keeps coming and coming and coming.

Monday morning, it was time to find out what the traffic might be like from where we are staying to the office. Let’s just say, the 30 minute commute turned into over an hour, due to the snow, icy roads and cautious drivers. It only took me about 30 minutes to get back to the hotel. When it was time to go get DCM, there was at least six inches of snow on the truck, had to clean off the truck, something I haven’t done in a LONG time! Didn’t take too long getting to the office to get DCM, cleaned off the truck some more while I was in the parking deck, confused a few people because there was no snow inside the parking deck!

On the way back to the hotel, had to pull over to clear off the wipers, they started icing as we were driving. We got back to the hotel and ordered pizza, we were in for the night! The snow kept coming down, no sign of letting up and even though DCM left really early to the office, still took 1.45 to get there! Snow, ice, freezing… The snow kept coming, we had a total of 16 inches in Boulder! But what? Schools were still open? No rush on the grocery store? Streets were clear? Where am I?

Dorky, yet cool? There is so much snow in the bed of the truck…we put some ice cream back there to keep it cold!

The oddest thing for me? Aside from the winter storm warnings, there were avalanche warnings! No where near where we are, but still, I have never seen that on the news! Things started clearing up, but as we were driving back to the hotel, guess what started coming down? Who knows what tomorrow holds!

No matter what’s going on out there…I’m excited and what did this inspire? I may have to wait until next year, but…I’m ready to get back on the slopes!
