As you may remember, I drove my car and cats to Boston to my sister’s house over the summer.
It has been great to have my car whenever I’ve needed it, but over the last few months, I’ve been on the road so much, I barely drive it, so… the battery died.
Yesterday, I called my insurance company, Progressive, and it turns out I have roadside assistance, Wahoo, so I called and they sent someone out to jump the battery, I let the car run for about 30 minutes, then went for a drive to the store, all good. I came out from the store and…. nothing. I called Progressive roadside assistance and guess who they sent… same guy!
I wasn’t sure if it was in need of a full charge or new battery, so I took it to the local auto shop that my sister uses and trusts and left the car overnight. I asked for an estimate… maybe about $120, expensive, but ok. Away we went.
When they called this afternoon to tell me what was up, turns out it needed a new battery, ok. How much would it be, maybe I misheard “about $75” great! Done!
A few hours later, car is done, go get it…$176..WHAT? The invoice showed the battery itself cost $106! And $63 for labor, this was still a first, $106 for a battery? Holy mackerel!
Oh well, what am I going to do… its paid for and the battery has a four year warranty.
What’s the next adventure?
