Do you have one? Do you even know what these are?

A work spouse is a person you work with and are close with, maybe you do stuff together at work or after work, maybe you travel together and since you spend so much time with each other, usually at least eight hours a day, really get to know each other, they become your work husband or work wife.

I’ve joked about having a few work husbands throughout my years in the workforce, but the one that was strongest, who I am still friends with is ST. We met on a project back in 2009 and hit it off immediately, knew we worked and traveled well together and then were able to hang out and become friends.

The following year we went on a business trip to a client location in Chicago and despite the weather, had a great time battling the cold, snow and ice and became even more office “spousy”. When we would go out to dinner at night, and since I eat no meat and he eats no vegetables, when he would order a meal, he would ask what vegetables I wanted and then I would eat them off his plate, how goofy is that?

It is important to have friends in the workplace and if you have someone you are close enough to have as a work spouse, you are in good company!
