I started to title this, When The Impulse Strikes, that’s the phrase, isn’t it?
Isn’t it interesting how and when things pop into your head. Sometime it’s logical, sometimes it’s random, sometimes it’s at the most inappropriate times, like something funny when you’re at a funeral, or when you’re reading to your six year old niece and she says something that reminds you and your dad of a dirty joke you told him!
And sometimes, as many of mine are, it’s like the dog, Bob, in the movie “Up”. “Hi, I’m Bob, I’m programmed for…squirrel!” I do that all the time!
Please tell me I’m not alone in this!

Not at all. Happens to me ALL the time. I work with a very diverse group of guys. By that I mean differing backgrounds and levels of education.
One guy, John, is from rural Alabama. He’s very smart – used to machine parts for the space shuttle, but you wouldn’t know it to hear him speak. He sounds like the biggest hick on the planet. Well, most of the other guys are electrical or mechanical engineers. Some of the conversations we have are completely off the wall and bizarre and exceeding memorable.
So past conversations with these guys are always popping into my head at the least appropriate moments. I’ll be driving around with the family and just start laughing hysterically for no apparent reason. Naturally, the wife and kid want to know what’s so funny. Generally it’s too sick or weird to share in mixed company (10 year-old daughter).
For instance, one of John’s favorite sayings, “I’m hungry enough to eat the balls off a low flying duck.” And frequently, these things pop into my head when I’m driving alone, so then all of the other drivers see a madman laughing in the car by himself.
You’re definitely not alone. At worst, the two of us are just really screwed up… 🙂

Thank you Kevin! You made me laugh out loud with a good rolling belly laugh! Thank you! A great way to start the day! I have go say I have never heard that expression in relation to being that hungry and I’m not sure I would ever say it myself, but I can assure you, I will be thinking it at least once I my future!
I would have go say a little of both, it alone and really screwed up! 🙂
