Anyone that knows me knows I can’t always finish what I have on my plate.
At home, no worries, leftovers and some food is always better the second day, right? Can I get a oh yeah for lasagna? Yum! But when I go out to a restaurant, it’s a to go container for me, sometimes I ask for one right away and I’ve also thought about bringing my own to the restaurant, would that be weird?
Pic asked DCM once if he was bothered that I didn’t always finish and took food home, I never want him to feel like I am taking advantage when he buys dinner, he said no, because he knows that I will have it for the next few days.
Now, depending on what the food is and where I am, I usually try to find someone to give it to, especially if it’s a burger, why not share! I always ask the server if there are homeless people nearby so I can give them my leftovers, it always happens when I go to the Vortex on Peachtree Street in Atlanta. There are times I will go out of my way, as in walking or driving around the block a few times, I would rather see someone who is hungry have something to eat when I am so lucky to have too much.
One thing I don’t do is give someone money, I don’t know where it’s going, unless they flat out have one of those signs “why lie, I want beer” so I would rather buy someone lunch or give the mine and who couldn’t use a “thank you” and “have a blessed day” everyone once in a while.
There are quite a few homeless people near where I live in Colorado, one or two guys in particular and they are at the light near my apartment, whenever I have leftovers, I like to bring it to them, today, quite a treat! Two pizzas (left over from last night) and half a chicken, enjoy!
Tonight, it was hard, I walked around for about 45 minutes with some leftovers, even after I was told that there probably weren’t any in the area, but I tried and then I felt really bad throwing it away, but I knew I would never eat it and it would go to waste, especially since I’m in a hotel. I’m sorry to anyone who is hungry.
I’m not sure I have a closing for this random musing, so I’ll just say goodnight!
