{February 4, 2013}   Superbowl and now I’m tired!

Hello friends. I just got home from a Superbowl party and I am beat!

My friend JT has a Superbowl party every year and every year I am there. This is the same friend who normally takes me to a game every year. His family is great, they are from NJ and they are loud and obnoxious [sometimes] and funny and fun and I’m a part of the family and I love them, I can’t imagine being anywhere else for Superbowl or Christmas Eve. The family doesn’t just include mom, dad and two sons, it includes a large number of extended family members, yours truly included.

I didn’t want to not write tonight so I will tell you this about the game. I’m kind of indifferent about the whole game, it was a bit of a disappointment. I didn’t have a favorite in the game, although, being a Joe Montana fan [no, I am not a football/San Francisco fan, I just know a few players and I am a girl, after all [for anyone who hadn’t noticed] and I am shallow enough to like certain players because I think they are cute. Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Phil Simms – and he played for the Giants, so bonus points there]. So that may have been my allegiance to the 49ers, but…

I’m not sure if they actually showed up to the game and then the lights went out, we all knew that the 49ers were going to get  second win and bring it to the second half. So, my feeling was, and I’m sure I’m not alone, that the Ravens had the game in the bag and if the 49ers had won after the lights had come back on, it would never have truly been a win and they would always have that over their heads, or as DCM said, San Francisco 49ers, Superbowl Winner* [see the asterisk].

The commercials were ok, don’t we all watch the game more for the commercials? The half time show, I’ve seen better, not that I could do better, I would never profess to be that talented or more talented than Beyonce or Destiny’s Child, it just kind of left me flat. There were a few good moments, I did see a nod to Michael Jackson in there, but overall, I could have skipped it.

So, while I enjoyed the party for what it was, a chance to get together, eat drink, hang out and watch commercials with some football thrown in, I don’t think it would have made a difference if I had stayed home, Superbowl-wise, not the family aspect.

I will say there were some great postings on Facebook! Kept me laughing.

And now… on to baseball, right?
